Meet Tristan and Eric

Tristan

Allow me to introduce myself, Tristan.

The last decade I’ve focused on sticking different shapes to many different surfaces.
I learned a thing or two about a thing or two, the body doesn’t appreciate this much repetitive hard labour. Also more than just a high quality product is required to be successful as a business.

The real journey kicked off after much convincing to become Self-employed. The decision was made, I signed the dotted line. Shortly thereafter my work flow was abruptly cut off. What a learning opportunity, I am now grateful for!

So there I was with all the practical tools and no ideas. No business plan, no contacts, no brand, no mentor and no idea on my worth as a young man with ability. Finding myself in the deep end I got on with what I perceived at the time to be “manning up”.
I thrashed around for some time until I ran low on ideas and energy, I began to slowly drown in debt.

Fortunately a friend with the business mindset saw my struggling. He spoke a few words of advice, looked me square in the eyes and told me to “get real”. So that’s exactly what I did.

2011 Saw the launch of “Define By Tile”, from there accessing help with the things I sucked at became the principle of my success. The client base began to grow and the business expanded. Define By Tile has provided solutions for business sectors including Retail, Tourism, Hospitality, Food manufacturing and also countless private clients. This experience has allowed me to develop problem solving with creative solutions. Now I’m super excited to be in a position to deliver something more meaningful.

One of my favorite past-times is to participate in agreeable, acceptable levels of violence. Great for developing fortitude and also getting those reluctant to settle their accounts.
Now I use those skills to empower youth, grow their confidence & create opportunities.

Eric

Hi I’m Eric.

After spending 12 years “putting the cold stuff on the hot stuff”, as a full-time fire fighter.

I thought life was too easy and decided to have a stroke.

That experience made me more determined than ever to move onward and upward with life. Breaking through the physical challenges associated with a stroke has also rekindled my love for computers. It was a sad day when my mouse died, I have a new one now.

Combining my new-found love and appreciation for colour, music and the moments we each all experience. Ascension Media NZ was co-founded.

Fellow co-founder Tristan and I have become great friends. We aspire to help people connect and experience through shooting them. We make a dynamic team, both with the determination and will to help others succeed. In the field he captures, in the office I release. I am forever grateful to not wobble down this path on my own.
